There’s something really special about holding a piece of wood that’s been transformed by hand. Each of my cutting boards starts the same way — with a quiet walk through stacks of lumber at a small local mill. I look for character more than perfection: knots, grain, and the subtle signs of a life once lived in the forest.
Once a piece speaks to me, I bring it back to the studio and start shaping. The process is slow and simple: measuring, cutting, sanding, rounding the edges, and smoothing every surface with care. I use a mix of tools — some modern, some passed down — but everything still comes down to feel.
Before each board is ready for someone’s kitchen, I seal it with a food-safe blend of mineral oil and beeswax. That final coat not only protects the wood, it brings out the depth and color hidden in the grain.
Each board is one of a kind. Just like the kitchens and hands they end up in.
